What happened at St. Louis?
We have asked for feedback, questions and comments regarding what happened in our Sunday session as Pastor Vinnie ministered. We are still receiving your responses. Meanwhile, Vinnie had prepared this initial essay, and we hope he will expound more in view of the feedback I am forwarding on to him presently. We withhold the names and identifying information of the respondees in order to receive your candid opinions and questions.
First, here are a couple of responses already received: One lady left me a voicemail saying that she really had serious concerns about what went on (people falling down, etc.), seeing that she is from a Roman Catholic background, “as are you, James.” A few days later, I received this email from her:
“Hi, I just woke up from a dream that told me that the happenings at FOT [Feast of Tabernacles—JB] with Vinnie were great spiritual gifts from our Father in heaven. So I may not know what the gifts were in spiritual talk but they equated to fresh whole apple pie on sale for $1.00 each. In my dream [lady’s name withheld—JB] (who is my neighbor) and I got a lot of them. And we all walked away with great happiness as did her son [man’s name withheld]. Thanks for the input. –[lady’s name withheld]
I love every bit of our dear brother Vinnie and I love what God poured out through Vinnie in STL. He has much to share and I appreciate the humbleness in which he offers it.
I experienced the Holy Spirit in the same manner when I was a young boy. Later, after you and I met in 1998, I received a similar manifestation in the basement at Arise and Shine and at Port Austin.
In between my childhood and 1998, I got turned off by Pentecost because I could tell there was false fire being thrown about. To me, Vinnie is different…I believe he has a true heart for God. In STL, I could feel the Holy Spirit moving, before Vinnie got started.
From my understanding and discernment, Vinnie “gets it.” He is not haughty. He is not asking for money for a prayer cloth. He is not forcing himself on anyone. He is not threatening anyone. He is approaching everyone in love. Are some people freaked out? Sure they are.
I agree with your blog…they should not rush to judgment, but pray earnestly.
I suspected there would be a big move of the Spirit before I got to STL. But I want more than just a Holy Spirit download. What good is it, if it cannot be shared with others? It would be helpful to understand the correct and lawful manner in which to call upon the Holy Spirit.
I would like to hear teaching about false fire so I can learn to discern it better. Then I would like to hear teaching about how the true fire of God has moved all different kinds of people. This is the thing that I find exciting: putting what we have learned and experienced about manna and quail into practice.
I can say with utmost surety after the conference in STL that I have now experienced “change you can believe in.” I hope the holy fire that started in STL continues to grow and touch many people.
Blessings, (man’s name withheld)
as you know, i was unable to attend the St. Louis conference; but brother [names withheld] his wife did and enjoyed.
i’m VERY, VERY familiar with the ‘charismata’ / gifts of the Holy Spirit..which actually should be called what they are…which is “manifestations”. Also been ‘schooled’ in prophetic/apostolic annointings , including the teaching school put on by Christian International, Bill Hamon down near Pensacola at Panama City Florida.
Wife and I still function/operate in prophecy, prophetic words, and have rather extensive experiences with visions/dreams/audible voices from The Lord…(angelic messenger/s and not Yeshua himself as far as I can tell).
told ya that to ask ya this…WHAT happened? when Vinnie ministered that afternoon? (hoping it didn’t degenerate into “so called Slaying folks in the spirit”…cause I know what spirit,,,not capitalized …that brings that to an assembly; as well as the ‘holy laughter’ and the chicken walkin’/cluckin’ and assorted other grievances to Holy Spirit)
hoping for a ‘good report’… [man’s name withheld]
Now here is Pastor Vinnie’s essay, written before he had seen any of these responses, and essentially left unedited by me:
Some Questions Addressed from Sunday’s meeting at the Conference
by Vinnie Imperial
I know there are many who have questions regarding Sunday’s conference meeting and the ministry of God’s Spirit through me. It is an awesome thing to be an imperfect vessel, anointed by the Holy Spirit to do God’s bidding. I never apologize for the anointing. It always seems to “rile” things up, especially religious spirits. To those who are critical and judgmental of the things of the Spirit, I simply say, “Humble yourself and repent”. Take notice of how Jesus addressed the Pharisees.
However, there are the humble, seeking believers who have sincere questions. It is to those precious saints that I will do my best to reply with sound biblical answers and other answers out of either my experience or the experience of others.
What’s all this falling down stuff?!
Well let me first list some verses for you to consider. This first one is Old Testament, by the way.
2Ch 5:12-14 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;
So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
It is obvious in the above passage that first they were first standing, then they were incapable of standing. You could easily derive from this that they fell or collapsed.
The word glory is H3519 כּבד כּבוד kâbôd kâbôd kaw-bode’,
From H3513; properly weight; but only figuratively in a good sense, splendor or copiousness: – glorious (-ly), glory, honour (-able).
You could translate the above as God’s weighty glory came in and rendered them powerless to keep on standing. This is one manifestations of God’s presence. It seems He just loves to humble us.
In fact, the things of the Spirit are designed to do just that. This is why religious believers(not in the good sense) attack the things of the Spirit because they are filled with pride. I understand that we all have to be continually delivered from that dreadful human “disease”, but it is really exposed when the Holy Spirit starts to manifest tangibly. The believers bound by religious devils simply can’t take it!
As soon then as he had said unto them, I am
he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
The above is the NT version of being “slain in the spirit”. It is also important to note that not every manifestation of God’s Spirit has to be in the bible.
It must be noted that many of the instances of the demonstration of God’s power throughout the bible never had any prior record. The bible is a guide, for sure, but will not have every instance of various manifestations and demonstrations of power that have occurred or will occur.
I believe that we are about to encounter a new realm of authority and power(as expressed at the conference by Dr. Stephen Jones) that will bring a dynamic wave of miraculous signs, wonders, and manifestations of God’s Spirit that have never been done before. This is why we must know HIS voice and look for Jesus’ being glorified and the fruit that comes out of all of this.
Some scriptures to consider:
John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
The above was written when Jesus’ was in HIS glorified body. I believe this is a foreshadowing of the sons of God flowing in the Tabernacles anointing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
What’s all this blowing stuff?
Well, safe to say it wasn’t ole Benny’s (Hinn that is) idea.
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
It seems like the I AM of the OT decided to breathe again in the NT when HE manifested in HIS earthly body.
Did I get “it” if I didn’t fall down?
Maybe yes, maybe no. Let me explain. Here is where some twenty years of experience is helpful.
First of all the Holy Spirit is not an “IT” but the third Person of the Godhead, co-equal to the Father and Son. This is why it is IMPERATIVE to know HIM and hear HIS voice and not to quench HIM. WE must have a child like heart concerning these matters of His Presence and how HE manifests or we will miss this great transition that we are about to come into.
Falling vs. not falling is not necessarily the issue. It is all about the heart of faith and the ability to receive(which, by the way God will grant to humble, seeking hearts). I have noticed in my experience, that the ones who are more “cerebral” and analytical tend to have a harder time receiving. This is why I often try to catch them off guard(Vinnie sneaky) when I minister under the anointing. That bypasses their reasoning and goes right into their spirit.
Also in my experience, even though the Holy Spirit is a Person, He manifests differently at different times. Sometimes “stronger” or heavier-the weightiness. Sometimes sweeter or gentler. It is important to know HIM and flow with HIM. This is the MOST effective ministry.
There are times when everyone gets “mowed over”( love that!) There are other times when God wants us to humble ourselves and receive. For those who are new to this, it is important to continually be in the atmosphere of His manifest Presence to make you more sensitive to the Holy Spirit. It takes some getting used to. The more you are in it, the easier it is to receive and respond.
Some don’t fall because they are either filled with other things or too cerebral in the moment. Others don’t because they are so filled with the Spirit that it takes a greater outpouring to cause them to fall.
The main thing is that we continue to passionately pursue HIM and all of HIS manifestations. We must have a heart to continually ENCOUNTER and be INTIMATE with the God of this bible.
[End of Vinnie’s essay. Please note that if there is some “gobbledegook” characters, it may be due to our blog publisher not being able to handle the Hebrew fonts, as Vinnie had some in the above essay.]
More to come…
