Mystery Babylon and the Stone Kingdom, part 9: Democracies, republics…and Nazis

We shall pick up where we left off in understanding a true and logical political spectrum. We are discussing the very important differences between a democracy and a republic. The Founders knew all about democracies. They detested and despised them! After they finished writing the united States Constitution, they then sent it the 13 states for ratification.

In order to explain its provisions and to promote its ratification, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay wrote a series of essays which were published in newspapers of the time Those essays have been collected and published in a book called The Federalist Papers.

In Federalist Paper #10, Madison wrote the following concerning democracies: “...democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” (My emphasis.—JWB)

Did you hear that? Democracies have short life spans and they end up in violence. Wonder why that is? Could it be because people get tired of having their individual rights trampled on? When they get fed up and reach a breaking point, violence breaks out.

So pay attention to all the politicians, the media and TV news people, the educators, and the so-called experts on TV and the internet, and just notice how many of them constantly refer to our government as a democracy.

Now, before some of you friends on Twitter begin commenting to chastise me for not going far enough, let me assure you, I am fully cognizant of the set of documents known as The Anti-Federalist Papers. Moreover, I also have a book called The Secret Proceedings and Debates of the Constitutional Convention of 1787.

I know of the value of those ideas, and the well-thought-out proposals and warnings of Patrick Henry, but at this point in the blog series, I am simply discussing the barest outline of the forms of government, especially as it relates to the amount of government. So, I do not plan to discuss the fine points of the Federalist vs. Anti-federalist debate at this juncture.

After all, what we are covering here is merely preparatory to understanding the system known as Mystery Babylon and it is also preparatory for a better understanding of God’s Stone Kingdom.

Now, in reference to the word democracy, we should also be careful not to condemn or judge others too hastily because most of the people who refer to America as a democracy, do so in ignorance. Ignorance might be bliss, but it is still ignorance.

Additionally, I can assure you, there are those who use the word democracy quite intentionally, because they know that democracies end up in violence. And violence is what they want—not for its own sake—but as a stepping-stone to total government, controlled by them, of course.

And that is the key here on our true political spectrum; i.e., to understand that the extreme Right of anarchy is often used as a tool by the Far Left in order to create such a state of violence and confusion among the people, that they will demand that someone do something and restore order.

A True Political Spectrum

Of course, those who have been working behind the scenes to create the problems which led to the anarchy, chaos and violence, are the very same people and groups who are then ready with the “solution”—which is usually some form of totalitarianism.

I hope you understand that. We will put more meat on that bone in a later chapter as we discuss some of the major players and organizations by name, both past and present, who are among the cast of that entity which the Bible calls Mystery Babylon.

For now, just to name one of the most prominent historical examples, consider Adolf Hitler. He and his national socialists (Nazis) certainly knew how democracies and/or violence could serve their purposes as a tool towards accumulating total power: witness the fire in the Reichstag.  (The Reichstag was the building roughly equivalent to our Capitol building in Washington, D.C., the place where our Congress assembles.)

Speaking of Hitler and the Nazis, I will share with you here my own personal experiences with Nazis.  To be clear, I am not talking about some so-called neo-Nazis who occasionally grab some headlines. Although they are capable of violence, they are otherwise almost a joke. I do not meaning “funny,” of course, because the sad fact is that, whether the rank-and-file neo-Nazis know it or not, they are serving perfectly the purposes of the Leftist, so-called “watchdog groups” who can then point to the neo-Nazis as a serious threat to America. And when they pitch that “dangerous threat” in their fundraising letters it helps fill the coffers of those radical Leftist, so-called watchdog groups. (I know. I have been targeted by them over the years, as they have accused me and this ministry of every nasty name they could think of.)

So, I am not talking about the modern neo-Nazis, but I want to tell you about two old gentlemen with whom I became acquainted within the past 25 years or so, men who were actual Nazis in Germany during WWII. Both of them are deceased now but in our present discussion they illustrate for us two divergent outcomes.

I do not feel at liberty to divulge their names because they both have family members still alive, as far as I know. Both men have been gone over ten years at this writing (2020). The first gentleman I shall mention (I will call him “Wilhelm,” not his real name) was only a pre-teen when he was inducted into what was called the Hitler Youth Movement.

I presume that many of my readers have seen the classic movie musical starring Julie Andrews called The Sound of Music. Do you remember how the teen-aged girl, I think her name was Lisle, sang: I am sixteen, going on seventeen...” Remember that she had a boyfriend named Rolfe, I think it was... and what a nice young man he was, right?

But then Lisle doesn’t see him for a while, and when she does see him next, he is in the uniform of the Hitler Youth. Shockingly, he has become a totally changed person, totally indoctrinated into the glories of National Socialism. He now has a very harsh and mean personality so much so that he even betrays the Von Trapp family in the climax scene of the movie, remember that?

Well, that was a Hollywood movie, of course, but nonetheless based on the real-life experiences of Maria Von Trapp. It was obvious to me that a very similar transformation was what had happened to the two gentlemen with whom I had become acquainted. Both were children when they were indoctrinated into seeing Adolf Hitler as a messiah figure.

I cannot say that I knew either of the men intimately well, but I did have several occasions with each of them in just one-on-one conversation. They did not know each other, by the way, but I remember being stunned as I conversed with Wilhelm at his home in a southern state.

While he was a very friendly and a very likeable person, a very decent and honorable man, by all accounts, he was also very knowledgeable about history and current events. His mind was still keen into his later years. But when the course of our conversation came around to the topic of government, I was asking him essentially how the German people could have voted a man like Hitler into power.

Of course, I already knew the answer, but I was curious how he would answer it. His answer was simply that the German people came to believe that Hitler could fix everything that was wrong. Which is not a surprising answer, but that led to us discussing the proper role and function of government, concerning which I expected him to agree with me. After all, I knew that he had been an American citizen since the early 1950s.

Thus, I expected that he would agree that, that government is best which governs least, and that a small and strictly limited government, such as our Founders bequeathed to us, was the best government that men could devise. And he certainly had the tragic life experiences of suffering through the tragedies that Hitler’s dictatorship had brought upon the German people.

But how shocked I was to hear him instead begin talking about the glories of collectivism in the form of National Socialism! I soon realized that it is absolutely true—that which all would-be dictators know well—that if they can gain control of the educational system and educate (i.e., indoctrinate) the children from their very early years, then they will have citizens who are slaves for life.

And here conversing with me was a man who in the last years of his life, was still under the great deception of collectivism and under the spell of the man who embodied it during this man’s formative years. He still essentially worshiped Adolf Hitler!

I was greatly saddened as I realized there was no point in trying to reason with such an individual, to try to get him to understand the errors of his indoctrination. He was a victim of mass mind-control.

The other gentleman (I will call him “Hans”) was even more of a victim of mind control because he told me that after the war, he and some of his teen-aged buddies went to a Christian missionary’s tent revival in Germany. (Understand that I am going from memory so I may be a bit fuzzy on the details, but this was essentially his experience.)

He and his friends had gone there to heckle and throw stones at the evangelist. But when the evangelist gave a call for any who were sick or wounded to come down and be healed by the power of Jesus, my friend went down to the front of the audience. Late in the war, as a teenage soldier on the Russian front, Hans had suffered severe wounds which caused him constant pain.

So when the evangelist asked Hans to make some kind of public confession about Jesus, my friend had no idea what to say, so the evangelist kind of prompted him by asking him to simply confess that Jesus is God. To which my astonished friend answered something to the effect that, “Well, Jesus can’t be God because I know that Adolf Hitler is god.”

That is what my friend had actually been taught and he continued to believe it until the moment he was miraculously healed at that service. Needless, to say, my friend became a great believer in and follower of our Lord Jesus Christ after that experience. Hans was a delightful man, and became a brilliant engineer, but more importantly, he was given the blessings to move in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17). Add to that, the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). The truth about Jesus, the Son of God, plus the Spirit of the Lord working a divine healing had set my friend’s mind at liberty from the bondage to the lie about the false god named Hitler, and his brand of collectivism called National Socialism.

There is so much more I think we ought to cover in this general area of discussion, but obviously, it will have to wait. We did not quote or discuss much actual Scripture in this chapter, but I trust you realize, or are beginning to realize at this stage, how all of this discussion about the proper role and function of government does, in fact, tie in very closely with biblical principles. We will provide much more on this and its Scriptural basis in the blogs to come.

So let me leave you with this important point to remember, and which sums it up: While we can diagram and use charts to help understand the political spectrum, and that is all very helpful; ultimately, it is not about labels and names, like Left Wing and Right Wing. It is not about Left vs. Right.

It is about an all-powerful government vs. you! It is about those with a collectivist mindset vs. those of us who believe in individualism—personal, individual, God-given rights and liberties. The next chapter is called Babylon and Collectivism.
